Gary R. Maharaj
President and Chief Executive Officer
Gary R. Maharaj is President and Chief Executive Officer. He also serves as a member of Surmodics' Board of Directors. Prior to joining Surmodics in December 2010, Gary served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Arizant Inc., from 2006 to 2010. Previously, he served in several senior level management positions for Augustine Medical, Inc. (predecessor to Arizant Inc.) from 1996 to 2006, including Vice President of Marketing and Vice President of Research and Development. He also served in various management and research positions for the orthopedic implant and rehabilitation divisions of Smith & Nephew, PLC. Gary holds an MBA from the University of Minnesota's Carlson School of Management, an M.S. in biomedical engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, and a B.Sc. in Physics from the University of the West Indies.
